Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday named allrounder Shahid Afridi as Twenty20 skipper until the ICC World Twenty20 2016 in India.
Misbah-ul-Haq has been held as skipper for Odis and Tests until the 2015 World Cup.
Pakistan have three T20 matches lined-up in the approaching arrangement against Australia and New Zealand.
"In accordance with my approach of taking choices justly I counseled the Cricket Committee and my board parts before proclaiming these choices," PCB administrator Shaharyar Khan said.
"I wish both Afridi and Misbah good fortunes in their approaching assignments."
As per sources, the PCB administrator had taken all the Governing Board parts into certainty over the choices except for Najam Sethi who is not in Pakistan.
For the last numerous months, the 34-year-old Afridi, in his remarks to the media, had been communicating the longing to commander Pakistan at the end of the day.
